Democrat Doubles Down on ObamaCare in Email to Supporters

Sioux Falls - Under fire for supporting ObamaCare, the Varilek campaign put out an email this weekend declaring that "Matt's not backing down" from supporting President Obama's government takeover of healthcare that slashes half a trillion dollars from Medicare. Tony Post, Executive Director of the South Dakota Republican Party, released the following statement in response to Varilek's doubling down on ObamaCare.

"All South Dakotans need to know about Matt Varilek is that he won't back down from supporting ObamaCare's $500 billion cuts to Medicare," said Tony Post. "Given the mess that was created by the President's healthcare takeover, South Dakotans should be asking themselves, do we really need another ObamaCare supporting Democrat in Washington?"

Email From Varilek Campaign Says "Matt Won't Back Down" From Supporting ObamaCare. (Varilek manager David Benson, "Matt's Not Backing Down," June 30, 2012)

Matt Varilek: I Would've Voted For ObamaCare. "That's why I'm not afraid to say that I would have joined my former boss, Senator Tim Johnson, in voting for health care reform. That may lose me some votes, but the fact is that's what I believe."  (Matt Varilek, "Where I Stand" campaign email, 12/16/2011)

ObamaCare Cuts $500 Billion From Medicare. "It would cut an additional $60 billion from Medicare, bringing total cuts to the program to more than $500 billion over the next 10 years."
